A little bit about me

I was 22 at the time and an MSc student studying Molecular Bioscience (Molecular Medicine). From the countryside in Northamptonshire, studying at Northampton University, I enjoyed rugby, video games and 90s horror movies.

Why did I approach LearnSci for an internship/placement?

My course contained a mandatory placement module and they had given us a list of pre-vetted choices as it was during lockdown. I initially wanted to do my placement in a laboratory but I’m very much glad I took a chance on digital education instead!

What did I achieve during my internship/placement?

I was fortunate enough to observe many parts of the business from market research to sales to the design and production of new digital products; during my internship I built new skills and developed others for working in industry. I also worked on a design document for a Statistics themed smart worksheet which I was very proud of. I also made a good enough impression to end up eventually joining the team as a permanent employee!

What was it like working alongside the LearnSci team?

It was a bit of a learning curve adapting to working online, though the team themselves were full of bright, passionate individuals and made for a very warm and welcoming work environment. My day to day tasks changed though I had a steady thread linking them all, It was a challenge but a fun one and the people I met on the team are hopefully contacts for life!
